Feeling Small
Mark 4: 30-32 (NIV)
Philippians 4:13 (NIV)
I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Sometimes I feel like a mustard seed – small and inconsequential in this big world. I begin looking at the mistakes that I make and wonder how I’ll ever manage to be a good mom, a good wife, a good daughter…..the list goes on and on. Soon I begin to feel defeated and worthless.
It times like these that I am so thankful for the Word of God, especially those verses that I have memorized. Each time I begin to feel overwhelmed by these feelings, some portion of God’s Word comes to mind and gives me a small piece of truth to focus on. Once I’ve shifted my focus from myself and what I can’t do to the Lord and what He can do, my whole world opens up again.
If you find yourself feeling burdened and overwhelmed, remember these 3 things:
1. Pick up your Bible – one of the best ways to combat your feelings is to read the TRUTH. God’s Word gives us a picture of His love for us and Jesus’ death is a real-life picture of how much we matter to Him.
2. Pray – admit to God how you’re feeling. Sometimes just admitting it out loud can do wonder’s for the soul.
3. Talk to a friend – God gives us friends for
many reasons, but one of the main reasons is to help another grow in our
relationships with God. Find a friend that you trust and talk your feelings
out with them.
